My friend and I are travelling through Malaysia and Thailand and making a 14 day trip to Borneo. I have a travel book but am having difficulty coordinating a route to go. We are starting at Kota Kinabalu and doing Mount Kinabalu. From there we want to explore as much as possible with a primary emphasis on seeing caves and hiking. We would like to do as many adventorous things as possible. Then we are flying out at the end of the island at Kuching. We begin at the end of June and leave mid July. Can anyone recommend a route as well as ideal things to see (as well as ways to get to them). We are definately on a budget but would like to do as much as possible within it.

Do you want to do the whole of Borneo? ie Sabah n Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan.
Presume exclude Kalimantan, and would suggest as follows;

Day 1 = kota kinabalu and surrounds
Day 2 = mount kinabalu am, poring hotsprings pm, overnite kinabalu park
Day 3 = sandakan for turtles island, overnite sandakan
Day 4 = croc farm n orang utan
Day 5&6 = danum valley
Day 7 = sempurna n tawau, then either fly back to kota kinabalu, or cross by jungle road to tenom and then on to labuan
Day 8 = ferry to labuan
Day 9 = ferry to serasa, brunei, meet VTer sangaji!
Day 10 = road trip from bandar seri begawan to limbang and temburong
Day 11 = road trip to miri for mulu caves
Day 12 = ex-mulu n miri, visit niah caves, then road trip to kuching
Day 13 = kuching, and trip accross to pontianak in kalimantan, indonesia
Day 14 = fly out of kuching

suggest go by tour operators as more convenient, distances are great, public buses are real slow aka turtles.
