There is an outlet mall way south of Rome (McArthur Glen or something like that), but it's a bit of a pain to get to.

You might try the mall called "Leonardo Parco" (Leonard Park, so called because it is near Leonardo da Vinci airport, I imagine). While this is outside of Rome, it is easy to get to. Go to Roma Ostiense, Roma Tiburtina, Roma Tuscolana, or Roma Trastevere train stations, and buy a ticket for the FM1 in the direction of Fiumicino Airport ('Leonardo da Vinci'). Parco Leonardo is the last stop before the airport.

The website for this mall is www.parcoleonardo.it, but it is only in Italian, so far as I can see.

Try this: go to http://www.parcoleonardo.it/commerciale/negozi/negozi.html
On the right hand side, out your mouse cursor over "Abbigliamento Donna" (Women's Clothing) - you will see the map light up with numbers at every women's clothing store. In addition 'uomo' is 'man' (well, 'men'), 'bambino' is 'baby', 'calzature' is shoe stores, and so on...there are many places to shop here, and like I said, it's relatively easy to get to...

Why go to Rome to go to suburban style outlet malls? Shop at the local markets instead!

When you are in Rome there is no point to go to the shopping malls. First, because the stores which are in shopping malls are also in the center of Rome. You will find the same boutiques in Via Cola di Rienzo, Via del Corso, Via Nazionale. On Via Cola di Rienzo and also close to Metro station S. Giovanni there is a big fashion store COIN. Another similar La Rinascente is on Via del Corso, so you can do shopping while sightseeing.
Additionally, the prices in shopping malls are often more expensive than in small boutiques in the center of Rome.
What's more, you will lose lots of time to park your car, I heard up to 1,5h to park your car in Parco Leonardo shopping center during weekends.
Personally I was once, 3 years ago, in fashion outlet Valmontone (about 70 km out of Rome, direction Cassino, Napoli). I will never go there again, first I got sick of all these stores and secondly the prices were really high.
My advice: the best shopping is in the center of Rome!!!
