| Agadir | Wheel chair in Agadir Posted: Sun April 27, 2008 07:47 PM UTC
We have booked the Sofitel Hotel in Agadir during May this year.My husband is confined to a wheel chair. We have now found out that the hotel is miles away from the town.IT isnt easy to get into a taxi, as his wheelchair cannot be folded. He needs to get into a vehicle whilst staying in his chair.
Is there any thing between the hotel and the town? Will we be able to use the promenade? How far away is the town from the Hotel? Irenec |

hi, i havent actually stayed at this hotel but i googled it and apparently its about ten mins from the city centre.if you go on to trip advisor reviews there are quite a lot of reviews about this hotel which may be helpful to you and your husband.its about six years since i was there but i really enjoyed my week there.im not sure about the wheelchair/vehicle issue, perhaps it would be good to call the hotel and see what they could provide for you, have a great holiday, laney

Unfortunately the works to the promenade have just recently begun at the Sofitel end of the hotels chain.
It's not clear when the works will be completed but some reckon June; workers here need constant supervision as they are slow to say the least and the work crew are few. Yes the hotel is some distance from the centre and to use the prom would be an advantage as the footpaths to the front of the Sofitel suddenly change from paved to dirt and of those that are made, are of uneven cobble type stones, not easy to walk on even in shoes so the road is the best bet. Perhaps an arrangement could be made with a neighbouring hotel, either Palais des Roses or the Iberostar Founty to access the prom as is through their grounds. The prom is not completed as yet even where it can be walked upon but there is access to the beach via ramps and “all” that is needed to finish the job is the paving and lighting but it is easy to walk along. If you are not satisfied then perhaps arrangements could be made to relocate you as the travel agent (assuming you used one) did fail to notify you of the works in progress. This work is now common knowledge amongst all travel agents and many tourists and has been going on for some 16 months. The Royal Atlas would be ideal for you as it is away from the works, is on the beach, has instant access to the prom, is closer to the centre and people do speak of it highly as it is a newly opened hotel. I can supply a map of Agadir if required and I do contribute regularly to the aforementioned travel site. jklejna@aol.com

Ireneconroy - I sent you a message some time ago asking for your e-mail, it's the only way I can send you a map.
