Hi!
I suggest checking out the old town area and take a look at their castle. I'm sure you'll get more ideas along the way.

Hi Saudamini,
The Slovaks are very proud of their history and traditions, village songs and dress styles stand out in my mind. They are famous for their crystal and I'm sure you will enjoy their food, especially their pastries. The people are exceptionally friendly and it would be quite interesting to make friends along the way.

in case that you are thinking about the Twincitycruiser :
It is really very fast, much too fast to be able to stand out on deck, it will blow you away ! The landscape of the Danube is not special there, just woods + a watermill that is broken now and almost sunken, the city of Hainburg and the most interesting is DEVIN-castle-ruins (you can do it also by bus from Bratislava. 110 people onboard and only 1 toilet-seat each for ladies and gents ! 26 euros p.p. one way and reservations is necessary ! ----- Its much better to take the train or bus !!!

Hi Michael!
You might also mention that these boats do not run all year long! LOL! I wanted to take one from Vienna to Bratislava and had made all my plans depending upon that, only to find out that the boat service was closed. It took me all day to figure out how to get to Bratislava and in the end I had to take a very expensive taxi!

hi Linda,
you should have had known VT already at that time ;-) I could have told you that trains are running allyear long, once each hour, always 28 minutes after the full hour + 4 buses a day (they also go to the airports of Vienna and Bratislava)

Michael, that may be the schedule now, but when I was there the trains from Vienna to Bratislava didn't run each hour. Only twice a day, six or seven in the morning and five-thrity in the evening. The first I missed because I didn't know and the second I couldn't take because I would have been too late to catch my six o'clock flight in Bratislava. However, I do agree, it would have been more useful if VT was around in those days.

I'd guess that by the end of May, it should be open, but I'd ask Michael, "globtrotter" or someone living in Vienna to be sure.

Hi, yesterday(14th May) I was in Bratislava. Twin city liner would be comfortable but it requires earlier reservation usualy. So I used train from Südbahnhof Wien to Bratislava Hlavna Stanica. (Every hour+28 departure and every hour+50 return) A return ticket costs euro 14,00 and it also includes public transport in Bratislava. Old town is very romantic and peaceful. Hrad(Castle) has a nice view of city and Danube. I also recommend you to go to Devin Castle(bus no.29). One day is quite limited to meet that lovely city, anyway it will offer you a taste different from cosmopolitan Vienna.
Enjoy Bratislava. Dovidenia...
