I plan to go to the Singapore F1 race and I'm looking for a hotel. What are the hotels nearest to the proposed circuit?

Singapore is really "small". So most hotels is a taxi or MRT station or bus ride away.

The ones with views include Swissotel the Stamford, Fairmont, Ritz Carlton, Conrad, Pan Pacific, Oriental and Marina Mandarin. You may wish to read the following story about the high rates at about S$1,500 per night:

HI!
I bet the hotels are planning to rake the dough in for this...but if you have spare change, try the following: Meritus Marina Mandarin The Pan Pacific The Mandarin-Oriental The Ritz Carlton The Fullerton The Conrad Route: http://www.stbpassport.com/images/F1Map.gif

What i have noticed in Singapore is that, whenever there is an event of some sort, whether an international congress or a Flower show, the hotel rates sky rocket and worse than that there is no availability. I would do my research well and find a hotel first. the distance to the event is not a problems since singapore is a tiny place and has good transport infrastructure.
two months ago, i couldnt find a hotel on arrival at Changi late in the evening, but fortunately i was leaving early in the morning, so decided to stay in the airport itself..

Thank you for all the help. Now i'm rethinking on whether or not I'm going to get tickets given the hotel prices. Perhaps I should try to go to Shanghai it might be cheaper.

I wonder if I can book online and get a cheap deal that way. The hotel doesn't have to be fancy. Which of these hotels would you recommend:
Royal Peacock PerakHotel Hotel 1929 Sha Village Peninsula Excelsior

looks like singapore is targetting the jetset crowd for the F event. have you checked out the ticket prices? it will blow you away!! unless you are willing to pay through your nose, you might want to wait for the shanghai F1 - Sunday tickets start at US$50

Singapore is definitely not cheap. The inspiration for this first night F1 race is Monaco and so, the Singapore Tourism Board is indeed targetting the jetset crowd.
Of the hotels you have listed, 3-star Peninsula Excelsior is actually extremely near the race track but precisely because of this, its rates will rise to above the current 5-star hotel rates to about S$700 per room per night. The rest of the hotels you have listed are in locations such as Chinatown (Royal Peacock), Little India (Perak) and the outskirts of Orchard (Sha). Of them, I feel that Perak has a more convenient location, but it is a very entry level hotel. Just my 2 cents.... :-)

^^ Thanks for that.
I guess if I do push through with this then I need to book online. I looked at a website and they have The Perak at S$126. Fragrance hotels at S$120, Excelsior at S$240

Choose Perak which is nicely situated in Indian Town and near good tucker places and it is a nice boutique hotel, with proper reception and friendly people.

For Peninsula Excelsior, I will not count on a discount site's rates because all rooms are now only sold on a higher tier. You can book it, but I am 100% sure they will get back to you after a few days and say that the rooms are no longer available...
