It's in the Dorsoduro area, where I stayed in April. Very convenient for walking around Venice, hotel is near the Campo S. Margherita (university area, lots of reasonably-priced places to eat). Not too far to walk from P. Roma or station either (though you'll need a map of Venice to find your way easily): allow perhaps 15 - 20 minutes the first time you do it.

thank you leics.
forgot to mention that i am with a baby in a pushcar (and also a carrier on my back for the baby) How bad it would be? ;-) and i didn't understand - isn't there a water-bus station close to the hotel? i actually will have to go with mu luggage 15-20 min? or a taxi-water (which is probably expensive) thank you!

Most of Venice is accessible only on foot. You must be prepared for lots of bridges with steps to bump the pushchair up and down (or for using the backpack, which would be a better idea if you and baby can tolerate it).
You can take a water-taxi, but it will be expensive. The hotel suggests you take the vaporetto (water-bus) number 1 or 82 (6.50 euro single ticket), and get off at San Toma. You'll still have to walk a bit from there (or, indeed, from the water-taxi).

My adult son and I stayed at the Hotel Tivoli in March 2006. Once we arrived in Venice from the airport (by bus), we bought a vaporetti pass and took it to the San Toma stop (we had luggage, etc.). I remember asking for directions at a couple of restaurants along the way but I think there was only one small bridge to cross getting to the hotel. The hotel staff was very pleasant and we enjoyed our stay there--just caught the vaporetti from San Toma to explore the rest of Venice.
I might mention that others have said that Tivoli doesn't accept credit cards. I don't know if this is correct but I paid our bill in cash. Enjoy your stay! Pam
