| Beijing Shi | Itinerary Arrangement Posted: Sun April 27, 2008 06:35 AM UTC
Hi,
I need help to arrange itinerary for 5 days 4 nights visit to Beijing. Most probably I will arrive in the afternoon. The purpose of this tour are eating, shopping and visit historical places. However I am not sure if 5 days 4 nights are enough to visit the places I listed below. Anyway everthing can still be change as this is just at planning stage. Places that I plan to visit are Tiananmen Square, Great Wall (Mutianyu or Simatai section), Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Zoo, Wangfujing Street, visit to Hutong, watch Beijing Opera, Bell and Drum Towers, Beihai Park, Liulichang Street, Niujie (Ox Street) Mosque. Same time I needs recommendations of budget accomodation that is really near attraction places/shopping area. My budget is RMB200-250. I also wanted to know where I can eat famous Beijing roast duck and local snacks? Thank you. |

Skip Beijing zoo, no need to visit that dismal place.
What date/time are you arriving and departing? Are you looking for dorm bed or private room? How many of you are there? Da Dong would be a good place to eat Peking duck: http://www.thebeijinger.com/directory/venue/Da-Don Try Donghuamen night market for snacks: http://www.tbjkids.com/directory/Donghuamen-Night-Market

Hi Ellyse,
I was thinking of arrive at 1300 on Oct 2nd and depart on 1500 on Oct 6th. As for room, there's 3 of us and would prefer private room.

Tiananmen is at the front of Forbidden City, and Beihai Park is at the back (or side, I forget). The Summer Palace is quite a way out.
Most famous Peking Duck place is "quan ju de kao ya" which is quite near Tiananmen. It's enormous, seats maybe 3000 (in smallish rooms) so no need to book. I don't know about Beijing Opera as such, but there is a tea house also near Tiananmen called "lao she cha guan" which offers a very good evening show. That does need to be booked. Starts about 7pm. Is that 250RMB per head or altogether? I usually stay in a 3-star hotel near the railway station, called Zhong An and I think I paid 220 a night (2 years ago). Or there is a hostel nearish too.

Wow, if that's 250 RMB for a triple with ensuite, that's quite ambitious. Or did you mean per head?
You're visiting right on top of the National Day holidays. Are your dates fixed in stone, or is it possible to change? Otherwise I think you'll see more of China's humanity than its sights.

Really? Then it is possible to change the date of visit.
I want to enjoy going around the places, seeing the view etc without getting stuck among the human.

Yes, for your own benefit I would strongly suggest that you consider changing your travel dates. Try the 2nd half of October, if possible.
