| Tokyo | JR ticket prices Posted: Sun April 27, 2008 12:30 AM UTC
I am confused about the JR ticket prices. I am taking the Bullet train from Tokyo to Odawara (Hakone). JR website indicates a Fare of Yen 1,450 and a Reserved Seat Charge of Yen 2,190.
If I do not need a Reserved Seat, do I need to pay the Yen2,190 charge. Can I just pay only Yen 1,450 to go from Tokyo to Odawara? I posted the JR fare here at this site. http://geocities.com/leeweenee/ |

To use a bullet train (Shinkansen), you need pay a Fare plus a Limited Express Charge for Reserved Seat or Non-reserved Seat. Normally, only the reserved seat priced are indicated and the non-reserved seat price is 510 yen cheaper. From Tokyo to Odawara, the fare price is 1,450 yen, the limited express charge for a reserved seat is 2,390 yen (not 2,190) and for a non-reserved seat is 1,680 yen.
By the way, I would recommend to use the following site for trains: http://www.zone81.com/arch_sections/trains
