Manila I goofed, I put this in the wrong forum.

So now I will put it here.

I see many postings and ads for rooms in Manila, that are said to be cheap. but my idea of cheap is 200-400 pesos a night, I don't want a added breakfast, as I can find my own food, and I am sure better than a hotel breakfast..Now the cheapest, I can find on line is around 750. but I am sure there are many small unadvertised places that would be less. If anyone has real experence with a guest house like this, let me know. I plan on spending 1-2 months in Philippines my next trip.... I am also returning to Cagayan de oro. I remember a hotel, I don't remember the street, but in the center of town, near divesoria. they had rooms for 450 p. I never see hotels like this mentioned in any forums. but if there is one, there must be more. Thanks for your attention.

As for Cagayan de Oro City, you can find cheap accommodations BUT hotel/inn might not be that reputable or lacks some facilities. Budget accommodations around downtown CDOC are Park View Hotel, MASS SPECC Hostel, Red Palm Inn and Kyross Inn. Check this website at http://www.cdoguide.com Click on Budget. There are guest houses and dirt cheap accommodations around the city but I would not dare recommend them. Some are notorious for short time check in's and lacks tourism accreditation. I don't want to be blamed for a bad experience.

Here are some cheap places I know of

Villa Carolina Townhouse in Paranaque, Metro Manila, about 10 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic.
http://asiabill.pages.web.com/id2.html

Bedspacer is P180 per night
Private room with fan from P350 per night
They have discounts for long term stays.

I don't have a video of the cheaper rooms but you can see the Townhouse on video on this page of my website:
http://www.bigjimsphilippinesexperience.com/videos1.htm

Check Asia Bill's website
http://asiabill.pages.web.com/id1.html
for his accommodation called Casa Camilla, on Boracay. I have never stayed there. The website shows bedspacers for P200 per night and private rooms from P400 per night

Firmas Lodging House In Surigao City, Mindanao. A year ago, it was P120 per night for a single room and P240 per night for a double room. The bathroom was shared. You can download a video here:
http://www.bigjimsphilippinesexperience.com/videos1.htm

McSherry Pensione House on Pelaez Street in downtown Cebu City. Never stayed there but I have been inside hundreds of times while visiting friends there. I don't have any website or video. It is low class and rooms are about P350 per night with discounts for a stay of one month or more.

There are many low class boarding houses in Cebu City. For about P3,500 per month, you can have a room with a double bed and fan. Cooking facilities and bathrooms are shared.

Russell lodging house in Palompon Leyte. I have no video or website. It is situated on the main street, about 100 metres from the pier and within easy walking distance of everything. P99 per night if you stay for a month in a private room with fan and shared bathroom.

I stayed in a room for a night on Dinagat Island. No idea of the name. The room was out over the sea and you could see the sea water through the floor. A year ago, a room with a fan, free cup of coffee and shared bathroom was P100 per night. To see the room, download my "Dinagat Island Paradise" video from this page of my website:
http://www.bigjimsphilippinesexperience.com/videos3.htm

I hope this helps!

Actually the hotel for 750 p is in Makati, and though it is not new, I think is in a safe enough area, if not a little seedy. close to MRT, and other transportation....when I went into the slums at Ortizes? i think spelled wrong, I was thinking I would not want to stay there. Well. thanks for your input, I will stay the same place again, it is only a short visit, on my way to othere citys in Phils.
