Hi All,

My husband, myself, and son (14), will be arriving in Christchurch on the 25/11/08 and departing on the 7/12/08 (13 days), and we want to hire a motorhome (6 Berth), I would like the extra room. I live in Perth and have gone to look at Apollo, Maui,and Britz, but none of these really stood out for the money they wanted. I have scoured the internet and books to try and find out about other homes but I dont seem to be having much luck, they all look great on paper, but when you see them for real they are dirty and daggy. Does anybody have any info on other 6 berth homes that they have had wonderful experiences with, things like tv and dvd that run on 12 volt, gas heating in the back, I don't mind paying for creature comforts.

I have never heard of dirty motorhomes - however not many of my friends have hired those big motorhomes. I have been in some motorhomes when dropping off friends there, and they were perfectly fine.

You can check out more companies, I have listed them on my NZ page, transportation tips, and given some price examples. Perhaps you find something there. In the past days I have seen quite some big motorhomes of Pacific Horizon on the roads. A friend of mine worked for Kea Campers, and said they were in perfect condition.

If you don't like the choices because it does not have a TV or DVD, then they are doing you a positive service.
Also, I never had a thought that our campervan was dirty when we picked it up or the company not clean and professional.
Toting a teenager in a campervan for 13 days will be your biggest hurdle. I hope you guys have a great relationship cause if not, it gets real clausterphopic.
