King Maryot is around 30 minutes from El Shatby.
Better for you to have your car as it's not easy to find transportation facilities there.
Better you stay some how near Shatby at least in Alexandria itself King maryot is like 30 KM far form Alexandria it self ...
Let me know if you need any help in Alexandria.I am a local Alexandrian , we could even meet for a cup of tea if you want.
Thanks
Karim Kassem

Thank you for your help! Yeah it seems a little too far from shatby to live in, but me and my friends really wanted to rent a house rather than an appartment, is that at all possible closer to the city center??

We are coming in september for the whole year, there are 4 of us but we would like a big house maybe 5 rooms so we can have visiters from over seas to stay with us, we were looking to spend around 6400 egyptian pounds per month on a place. Could you let me know if that would be possible and what the areas are called near to shatby for renting houses, thank you so much!

Hi I'm Samo. First of all I think King mariut is kinda so far beside there's more places in alexandria u can stay in but that number of rooms is kinda alot u can stay in Chatby itself(where Alexandria bibliotheque lies) or anyother place mmm I think maybe roushdy or ebrahimya or el ramel station(Cinemas there) mmm but all places will be with less number of rooms about 2 or 3 and u'll be lucky if u got a flat with 4 rooms So i think it's better to u to get 2 flats near each other or something like that and about the price of flats 4 rooms would be about EGP1500 per month I can help u with that as here it's always hard for somebody from outside the country to rent a flat with low price anyhow I'm from alexandria my e-mail is samo267@hotmail if u want to ask for any help i hope i can be helpful:)

Hi there
Its about 50 Kms to travel each way between King Maryout and Alex & even if you have your own car. This will take you approx an hour under normal conditions. I think you are right , you can find very beautiful houses there and I even considered buying there when I wanted to buy a property in Alex. Houses in Alex , for rent or purchase are hard to come by and are very expensive . When you ask about houses please make sure that you explain what you mean as most egyptians would mix a "house" with a "flat" and hence earlier comments about how easy they are to find at a reasonable price. Better call it a "Villa" as they do in Scotland !
Best of luck anyway
