I will be at Majorca from a cruise stop about 4 hours. Do I have time to go to Valledemossa on my own ? Where could I take the city bus and how often they run ?

If you will be at Palma de Majorca City there's a Bus Line between Palma and Valldermossa. The line L 210 will serve you. Watch the below links:
