| Bergamo | What to see/stay on trip from Bergamo to Venice Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 06:36 AM UTC
2 old couples from Denmark fly to Bergamo by Ryan Air may 2
We have rent a car in Bergamo airport and want to go to Venice. Book 1 night 5/6 may in Venice http://www.locandasilva.it/ and 1 nigth on our way back in Bergamo 6/7 may http://www.lavallettabergamo.it/eng/index.htm Do you have any suggestions what to see on our trip from Bergamo to Venice? We have 3 nights and would like to see cosy towns. But we dont want to book other hotels in advance Look forward to hear your suggestions |

Maybe first stop outside Verona? Prefer small local hotels or B&B

Hi!
First of all, if I well understood where La Valletta is, you'll stay in a beautiful location in Bergamo! Take one day to visit my city because it's worth of a visit, tough it's small. On the way between Bergamo to Venice you'll meet both Verona and Padova and both of them are really beautiful. I know Padova better because I stayed there more so I can tell you what you would see in Padova but you should also have a look at Verona's must-see. In Padova I visited the breathtaking "Cappella Scrovegni", painted by the famous italian painter Giotto: http://www.cappelladegliscrovegni.it/eng/index_e.htm Then you can visit beautiful churches, palaces and also a very nice botanic garden. I am not expert in Venice but I am sure you'll need more than one day to visit it, so plan for example 3 days there. Regards, Sergio

If you haven't seen Venice before then staying for one night is really not enough.
If you have, then perhaps you could miss it out altogether? www.venere.com is a good, reliable site for seeing what hotel/b&b/other accommodation is available in Italy and elsewhere; its guest reviews are very helpful.

I am a big fan of Sergio/juzz - fantastic answers you give everyone. I checked your homepage - you really do things to make a different. For an old hippie like me it is nice to see
I will check suggestions. It looks like so much to see between Bergamo and Venezia. Only one night in Venezia because we have all been there before and we just want to feel the atmosphere and live in city centre Bergamo and the beautiful surroundings is our target. I am sure it is easy to find beautiful local hostales. My problem is we arrive to Bergamo from Dinamarca at 16 pm, rent a car and just find where to stay for first night? But I am completely sure we leave Venezia early to spent at least 1 day in Bergamo before departure

Maybe this could be our first stop - close to Verona?
http://www.bbvillabeatrice.com/ First of all we are interested in the beautiful landscape between Bergamo and venice and the rich culture. Yes Padova is a must - my wife love the link Sergio sent We just want to reserve hotels already mentioned and get inspired "on the road" - it is only a short 6 days trip

Very kind of you clausito! :)
If you already know Venice you're lucky and you'll have the chance to give more time to smaller jewels like Padova AND Verona (instead of Padova OR Verona). I'm happy your wife liked the link, I am sure you all will your breath taken away inside the chapel, even if the visit will be short. You'd better book your visit there, you can adjust your visits in the area if they have availability only in some of the days you plan to spend there. If you'll stay for some time in Padova and the surroundings you'll find something interesting here (free admissions to museums, discounts and so on): http://www.padovacard.it/eng/index.php In that website you can have an idea of the things you'll find in Padova. Feel free to ask me if you have any doubt especially about Bergamo which I know very well being my hometown. Regards! Sergio

My wife want to visit Vicenza and I always follow my wife. And we, of course, follow your ideas about Padova
Sergio, you really impress me - The City of Bergamo should give you an award! You love yr city and it is nice to sit in a cold Dinamarca and listen to an enthusiatic young man giving guidelines to his beautiful city. Yes, an early departure from Venice to Bergamo and then get a chance to see the city and eat nice food. Maybe we can come back for a longer stay. RyanAir from Billund Dinamarca makes it easy and cheap. Maybe you should take a trip to aarhus/Billund http://www.visitaarhus.com/international/en-gb/men You get an OL goldmedal from me and if you need something from Dinamarca I will be pleased to bring it

You must make some VT pages too!
Go to the link at the top of the page which says 'your travel pages'. Then you can 'add a destination to your map'. Then you can begin to build your pages. It's one of the best bits of VT, and it is really useful for other people. It's really easy too: the VT templates make it so. If you make pages, and maybe some tips too, you will get ratings. Whch is nice. :-) Enjoy!

Not anymore because I am too old For 20 years I made hotel contract all over the world and live in many countries - Japan, Kenya, Spain, Thailand, HongKomg, Southamarica etc Now I am an old man and just want short trips to main cities in Europe I teach now in computers for beginners and donīt feel I have time to write about travel experience - but I could tell many stories about my travelling in a 20 years period

Leics - you would never believe my stories
But maybe I will try to write about the last years travelling to main cities in Europe. I have some nice hotels in Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, London etc Just now it is wonderful weather in Denmark - not often. I will be back in wintertime when it it is cold and dark in my country - have you ever visit Denmark?

I know of Heartbeat, yes ........but please make sure your wife knows the UK is not really like that before you bring her! It was filmed around Goathland, in North Yorkshire, which is a lovely part of the country.
I haven't been to Denmark..yet. I've only been travelling for about 6 years, and it's on the list! Looking forward to seeing your pages!
