Los Angeles relatively inexpensive hotel near airport
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 01:54 AM UTC
Because of a variety of factors, I may need to arrive at LAX between 11 and 12 -- and since I'm coming from the East Coast, it'll feel like closer to 3am to me. I plan on renting a car when in California, but I'd like to not have to wait around and fill out paperwork, then navigate my way to a hotel in an unfamiliar city when I'm half asleep -- if a car rental place is even open at that time. Does anyone know of a relatively cheap hotel (I recognize that this means anything under about $100 a night) with shuttle service from and then back to the airport? Should I just plan on taking a taxi somewhere?

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a good idea - LA's not the place to be lost at night - and the neighborhoods around the 105 if you're headed that way could be dangerous.

There are *many* nearby hotels with shuttles - here's a list off the LAX site:

I am not sure, however, how many of these are within your range. I would avoid Motel 6.

Embassy Suites, 5mins south of LAX, is showing a rate of $129. That, I believe, includes a good hot breakfast. They have a shuttle and there's also an Enterprise Rent a Car location at the hotel.

I stay at LAX a couple of times a year and always get my hotels off Priceline by bidding, my most recent stay was at the Crowne Plaza for $60 per night, most or all of the LAX hotels have shuttle service and I believe it runs 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes or at least that's what the sign said at the Crowne Plaza. Past visits I've gotten the Westin, Ramada and Hilton and they all had shuttle service as well.
