Has anyone stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Florence? How close is it to the city center? Are there good food options nearby? We're looking for good pizza in Florence.

It's 3km from S M Novella station, which itself is about 10 minutes walk from the Duomo so, as noted above, not particularly central. You may want to take a bus/taxi in and out of the centre.
You won't have any difficulty finding good pizza (or gelati)in Florence (or anywhere in Italy). The VT Florence pages will give you restaurant/pizzeria etc recommendations.

we stayed at the HIlton garden inn...nice hotel but far from the center and all the happenings. we quickly shifted to a great apartment in the center overlooking Piazza S croce for €100 and it was worth every penny. The best pizza is also close by..pizza from Naples and is called Pizziuolo on via d macci.
