Just back from a fantastic five days in Bremen.

One particular 'highlight' was taking the train out to Farge, and the bus to Rekum - and then walking round the exterior of the Valentin U-boat Bunker. The man from the Bundeswehr would not let me through the gate to look inside!! A secondary reason for going to Farge was to take a photo of a street sign. I had noticed Richard-Taylor-Strasse on Google-Map and now have photos of it. I have a friend in England called Richard Taylor, who I hope will be slightly amused to see my photos. BUT...WHO IS THE 'OTHER' RICHARD TAYLOR AFTER WHOM A STREET IN FARGE IS NAMED? Is it the Harvard Professor of Mathematics who solved Fermat's Theorem? And why a street in Farge? Does anyone out there have the answers? (The girls in the Bremen Tourist Office didn't know - In fact they were slightly baffled by the question!)

In a German source I found about a decision he made on 10.02.1934. But nothing more.

Yup, there are guided tours through the former camp, but the bunker can not be visited. I don't know why that is. Maybe the building only looks sturdy.

which tells you that Richard Taylor and his son Richard Taylor were English copperplate engravers who contributed greatly to the development of the city through the porcelain industry. The son was the mayor.

I think I was distracted by the comments of my friend Richard Taylor, regarding the Harvard Mathematics Professor, and didn't imagine that the answer could be so obvious! Richard (my friend) told me that there are so many illustrious Richard Taylors in this world, that they have their own user-group and website. (I have no inclination to follow this up, before anyone offers to assist!)
