| Rome | Apartment rental for 100euro? Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 04:31 PM UTC
I've been looking on this website for an apartment: http://www.rentalinrome.com/index.htm Is this a good site to use? It'll be me and my boyfriend and we're looking for a nice apartment centrally located but not necessarily in the middle of a crazy tourist section. Somewhere cute and hip. Anyone have any suggestions? Also what's the easiest way to get from Fiumicino to the center of Rome?

Can't help with apartment rentals (not sure I would describe anywhere in Rome as 'cute and hip', though perhaps Trastevere might fit the bill?).
But from Fiumicino the easiest way (apart from a taxi, of course) is to take the train to Rome Termini. The Leonardo Express takes about 30 minutes and costs 11 euro one-way, ordinary stopping trains take a bit longer but are cheaper. http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html has times and fares (click cart) in English.

Check out www.tripade.com
It's a free travel directory.

Not sure what the center of Rome is. Termini station might qualify. But another way in from FCO is the FR1 train (sometimes listed as FS1, I think). It takes 27 min. to the Trastevere station (5.50 Euros this past December...might be a little more now) and runs every 15 min.
From there, take the #8 tram towrd Largo Argentina. Goes right through the heart of Treastevere and continues across the river to Largo Argentina...a VERY convenient location for lodging and sights. (We stayed in the Jewish ghetto section couple of blocks south of L. Argentina and loved it...but it was a hotel -- 95 Euros off-season). Either way, getting to Rome from FCO by train is a snap. Just remember to stamp your ticket in the machine before you get on the train.

rentalinrome.com - it is nice site and they have really nice apartments. The question is that bee aware to book on time not in the last moment. You can mail them all you requests and wishes, so they look for you something apropriate.

Mmm appartment renting is Rome (like every other accomodation) is VERY expensive. Do you mean 100 euros per night? How long will you stay?

Not agree with Rita Simoes, you can find really nice apartments or B&B even around 80 euro. At the same time to find something nice for that money in hotels is very dificult.

No, I just don't know if she meant 100€ per night. 100€ per night for an appartment seems too much for me, you can find nice appartments much cheaper.
