| Munich | Oktoberfest Lodging Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 02:58 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm looking for lodging for 4 adults from Mon September 22nd 2008 to Wed September 24th 2008 (3 nights, check out on Thurs the 25th). We are looking for a 3 bedroom house/apartment/condo that can sleep at least 5. I've tried many of the internet sites (vrbo.com, homeaway.com, etc) but am unable to find accomodations. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks. |

The website fewo24 has literally thousands of holiday accommodation places, try to find someone who reads German as the site is all in German. I,ll give you a clue - google fewo24
then click on Bayern under the Deutschland heading then look under Oberbayern (upper Bavaria) and click on Munchen und Umland (Munich and surrounds) The number alongside the face under each listing is how many people the place will sleep but remember that these places are small by some country,s standards, it usually says how big each flat is in square metres. Also some places will have a sofa that converts into a bed, 3 bedrooms are scarce.

Another area worth considering is the town of Starnberg as this is on a direct suburban train line into Munich, it takes 30 mins. I stay in a small apartment there but the owner has a block of new holiday apartments called Apart-One There are a number of different sizes, the design F has 2 bedrooms plus a sofa which converts into a bed and the apartments are new. He does understand some written English but again, it would help if you had a German speaker to interpret for you if necessary. They have a website,(Apart-One/de) click on the central picture then the various layouts and prices etc are shown.
Starnberg is a lovely town, it,s on a lake and there are a number of restaurants there, it is a popular holiday destination for Germans. In the main pedestrian shopping mall there is a large Tengelmann supermarket which sells lots of ready cooked foods e.g. roast meat, cold meats, ready made salads, so you can easily assemble a meal without going mad cooking.

Thank you. I was fortunate enough to book a twin suite at the Maximilan hotel. I appreciate your suggestions.
