Munich Munich airport Strauss

Hello,

I have a 40 minutes connection in Munich Franz Strauss airport, flight Moscow – Munich – Nice, arrival and departure terminal 2. As I can well spend an hour queuing for Schengen passport control what is the chance that I miss the connection flight?

Thanks!

Hi,

if you are going with the same airline on both legs, they usually guarantee the connection. If not, better contact them in advance!
Good Luck!

If you are not travelling with the same airline your chances are very slim indeed. You will have to get your baggage as well as get through immigartion, and your onward check-in will almost cvertainly have closed by the time you get there.

If you are using the same airline, then they will advise you (and make sure you make the connection, if it is feasible to do so).

You don't say whether you are travelling on a through ticket for one airline with a change of aircraft, a through ticket with a change of airline ("interlining") or on two separate tickets. The minimum connecting time at Munich for Lufthansa and Star Alliance passengers is 30 minutes. If your onward boarding pass is not issued in Moscow, you have no hope of making your connection in Munich since the check-in for the Nice flight will be closing as your incoming flight lands.

I don't think anyone suggested bags would have to be claimed if the onward flight is with the same airline; the reference was for onward flights with another airline.

I'm 99.99% certain you won't make the flight if it is with a different airline.

There is no need for such a rude response.

Having been a VT-er for several years I'm really rather taken aback by this. It's not how the travel forums generally work, is it?

I have no argument whatsoever with the member concerned, but it seems he definitely has one with me.

Terminal 2 in Munich is in 90 % of the cases Lufthansa. And this would mean that you might not have any problem to reach your connecting flight if you are arriving in time.

The minimum transfer time for Terminal 2 in Munich is 30 minutes.

The chances are not good at all. You have to plan an extra visit to see something of Munich one or the other time in the future.

Thanks, everyone!

I contacted Luftganza in Germany, Luftganza in Moscow and the airport in Munich - the last was the one who gave sensible advice. If anyone has a connection in Munich, take notice - you have to go 1 level down (or maybe 1 level up). Will tell you when I am hopefully back :)
