| Verona | Travel & Accommodation Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 10:44 AM UTC
Hi Everyone
Would appreciate if someone could assist. We will be travelling to Verona in September and I need some help with the trains. We will be arriving at Venice airport at 14h15, is it easy enough to get a train to Verona from Venice? Would be kind if someone could also recommend a hotel in Verona that is close to major attractions and not too pricey, around EUR75 per night for a double room? We will then be travelling to Birmingham(UK) from Milan Bergamo Airport on the 30th Sept. How do we get from Verona to Milan Bergamo Airport?? (I know it's a 2 hour trip so we would have to leave at about 10h00am to be in time for our flight at 14h15) I could only find 1 trip for that day on the Tranitalia website. Thank You. Any help will be greatly appreciated! |

The Trenitalia English website is very easy to use.
http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html It will give you train times/routes and fares (click cart for the latter). From Venice airport (which one?) you will have to get to Venice Mestre station (bus or taxi). For train info, just put 'Venice' into the search box, and choose Verona Porto Nuova. Journey time is around and hour and half/2 hours and trains are roughly twice-hourly. No need to book ahead online, unless it's a reservation-only train (even then you could book 5 minutes befor, if there was space). There is a train at 15:51 which will probably suit. Train from Verona to Bergamo takes around 2 (or 2+) hours, then you will need to get to the airport itself. There is a train from Verona at 08:45; the next train (11:43) will get you there too late. There are other option, both earlier and later: don't know why you could only find one. Transport from Bergamo station to the airport info/details here: http://www.orioaeroporto.it/Editorial/newsCategory Easiest way would be to take the 10 minute train journey.

We don't go to Verona that often and normally only for one night stopovers.
We usually stay at the Hotel Bologna. It's right on the corner of the main piazza and 150 metres from the arena. There's plenty of restaurants in that area and you're within striking distance of most attractions. The last time we stayed there, I vaguely remember it costing about 80 Euros.

Hi
Hotel Trieste http://www.hotel-trieste.it/inglese/default.asp?link=prezzi.asp is very close to center and on the road from the station, and has usaully interesting prices. VT member Sandysmith stayed there for 60 2 years ago when we met, and was quite happy with the accomodation. For the Bergamo airport (quite difficul to reach from Verona by public transports) see if this direct shuttle bus may do: http://www.european70.com/navetta.html Ciao Francesco
