| Tokyo | Arts and Crafts Market? Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 12:46 AM UTC
I love Arts and Crafts Markets. Are there any good arts and crafts market in Tokyo? If so where are they and when are they open? Any other information will be greatly appreciated! Thanks VT members!
Have a beautiful day! |

Hi,
I just realised, that you will go also to Kyoto: Kyoto's "Handicraft Center" is a place, you must not miss out ! It is a 7-story-building with everything handicraft- related, from Kimonos to Japanes dolls, pictures, Food (there is even a very good and cheap restaurant on the 7th floor)etc. The Handicraft-Center is centrally situated, open from 10am-6pm and easy to reach by bus (from Kyoto Station take Kyoto City Bus #206 and get off at Kumano Jinja-mae Stop (about 30 min.; ¥220) then walk about 2 min. or take a taxi (about 15 min.; about ¥1,500) Have a look at http://tinyurl.com/4wunov Enjoy it !

I don't know what your schedule is, but you may have the opportunity to hit (arguably) the biggest arts and crafts show in the world.
The 66th Tokyo International Gift Show Autumn 2008 DATES & TIMES : Sep. 2 (Tue.) - Sep. 5(Fri.), 2008 Sep. 2-4, 2008 10am-6pm Sep. 5, 2008 10am-4pm PLACE : Tokyo Big Sight (All East Halls, All West Halls, and Atrium) There are a lot of specialty areas within the show, the most notable being "For Stockists", showcasing handmade design items from small business craftspeople. You will be in arts and crafts ecstasy. LOL.
