Garda Where is best to stay?
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 10:45 PM UTC
Hi, I will be visiting Lake Garda in the beginning of August after a few days in Tuscany. I will be travelling by car. I am hoping to find lodging at San Zeno di Montagna. Can anyone tell me something about this place, for example any restaurants if there are any beautiful views of the mountains and the lake? If there are any special attractions? If in the evening I visit some other place by the lake will it be crowded and would I find a place to park my car? I tried to find information about this place but I did not find much and I really would like to know more about it.
Thanks a lot hope that you will give me some advice!!

Best regards
Stephen

Well, San Zeno has wonderful views, as it is quite high on the mountain, just watching on the lake, with incredible sunsets.
There are hotel and restaurants, all the summer houses will be open at the beginning of August.
Sure, August is crowded along the lakes shores. But only weekend can cause problems.
Paying parkplaces (generally 1eruor /hour) will be available, if you don't arrive to late (up to 9 / 9:30 PM). Torri (where the road from San Zeno exits) for example, has a big parkplace just side by side with the castle, 300 meters from the harbour.
Or Malcesine and garda, too.

Of course, the most of the nightlife is in bigger places (Malcesine, Riva del garda, Garda, Bardolino, Lazise, Peschiera).

But you will enjoy. Do not overworry for the parking problem. At worst, you'll have to walk 5 minutes from the parking to the center of the choosen town. I'll be there, too, in those days.. But with my scooter, too! ;-)

Ciao
Francesco

P.S. Bookmark this site, and watch it again for events (there are a LOT all around the lake, fairs with food etc, fireworks, etc) before leaving!
