Aix-en-Provence Bus to Gordes and Avignon
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 08:49 PM UTC
Dear Fellow Traveler.

I am planning 3 days in Aix-Gordes-Avignon. Can anyone please help me find a way of doing this by bus. Arrive in Aix by train from Paris, hope to take a bus to Gordes and then one to Avignon to return to Paris. Any suggestions as to hotels and restaurants etc. will be very appreciated, but especially for a good bus connection tip. We are 2 females and hate to rent a car if not in a have to situation.
Thanks a million

Are you spending 3 days in each of three cities or trying to see all of this in 3 days total?

To reach Gordes from Aix-en-Provence, you'll first need a bus to Cavaillon. Trans Vaucluse lines 25, 26, and 29 will connect. From Cavaillon, line 22 to Coustellet, from Coustellet, line 21 to Gordes.

Schedules: http://www.vaucluse.fr/

To reach Avignon, backtrack to Cavaillon and then a direct bus.

Without a car, you'll spend much of your time just en route.

Quite frankly, if your itinerary is 3 days total, I seriously doubt you'll have much time but to make but a very short visit to Gordes even with a car. You might want to just take the train from Aix to Avignon as there is plenty to visit in these two cities.

I certainly appreciate your wonderfully informative reply. Well, I can do one more night in the area. Do you have a suggestion as to how to go about this venture? I would so appreciate it.

Thanks again

I should recommend 2 nights in Aix, 2 in Avignon taking the train from Aix to Avignon. You still could rent a car and visit Gordes, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Rousillon, St.Rémy, Les Beaux de Provence, etc. but if this is your first visit, there is a great deal to discover in these two cities:

Hotels and restaurants are listed in the sites above as well as the touristic highlights.

One side trip you might consider is Pont du Gard near Avignon. There are several buses that connect the bridge with Avignon:
