| Maastricht | Cost of bus from Maastricht to Liege/Leuk ? Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 07:35 AM UTC
Hi again:
Does anybody have any idea how much the bus from Maastricht to Liege/Leuk costs? What bus number is it? Can I buy the ticket at CS or around the area at a ticket office? How long does it take? Am I correct that strippenkaarts are not accepted? I was pondering whether the train or the bus was the best option. Price and time are big factors. As always, dank u wel. |

In the Netherlands and Belgium you never have to ponder whether train or bus is the best option to go from A to B. Bus and train do not compete with each other in these countries, and you only consider buses for trips to places where the trains don't go. From Maastricht to Liege there is an hourly fast train. Price is Euro 5,40 one way. There is no bus.
(BTW, Liege is Luik in Dutch, Leuk is a place in Switzerland...)

It's Liège or Luik.
Anyway, welcome to VT. I hope you will add your name and where you live. Because your VT name knetter_gek indicates that you are Dutch. Which would make quite a difference if you understand Dutch as well as English. All transportation schedules (train/metro/bus) can be found at www.9292ov.nl If you need a translation, see here: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/1aa687/

Why take the bus? the train from Maastricht central railroad rides you direct to the center of Luik. Its the red train that stands at the other side of the platform when you enter the platforms neaxto the Albert Heijn. Tickets can be bought at the international tickets counter.

The train from Maastrich to Luik is no longer a little red train however. Since the last timetable change there is a comfy intercity Maastricht - Luik - Brussels run with modern Belgian IC trains.

Hello all.
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my questions here and in other similar topics on the Maastricht forum. I apologize for any confusion that my user ID might've caused. Although I cannot speak anything other than survival Dutch, as we say where I'm from, "I know enough to be dangerous." I am able to read and understand Dutch to a large degree. Unfortunately, there are periodic gaps in my translation abilities. Using the ov site, I could not seem to translate correctly, or select the option to view strippenkaart options. Thank you for taking the time to translate for me. I hope that karma is kind to you. Enjoy koninginnedag. MVG, gnetter_gek
