| Chicago | moving from suburb to chicago Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 03:53 AM UTC
I'm moving from La Grange to an affordable place in Chicago where I can get to I90 pretty quick. I've found many surprisingly cheap ones on CraigList in the Humboldt park/Logan square area, wondering of how safe they are. Ty.

It does not surprise me that the good prices came from that neighborhood. When I was hunting for property, those were always on the front of the list.
Many people argue that Humbolt Park and Logan square are the next up-and-coming section of Chicago. The problem is that this has been said for a loooong time. Many people buy in this area, renovate with hopes to resell when the market turns, but it just has not turned like they'd hoped. Therefore there are a few nice places intersperced between many not-so-nice places. I'd like to say that you'd be perfectly safe, but just know that those are high density ethnic neighborhoods with very mixed incomes. If you find a place on the outter fringes of those neighborhoods, you'll do quite well.
