| Prague | time spent between Prague & Budapest? Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 02:14 AM UTC
I have 11 days between arriving in Prague, and flying out of Budapest. How much time do you suggest in each place? Also debating stopping for a day or two between, like in Bratislavia, Slovakia. I would love any recs for budget accomodations in good locations as well as recs for areas or town to stay in as well as avoid. Also, how much is the train between the two? It was cheaper to fly from Nice to Prague - wondering if it will be the same to go from PRG-BUD. Thanks!

Divide your stay by 2 as both cities are beru beautiful and deserve a detailed exploring.
And you'll also have time for some trips around too

allowing for the deterioration of the dollar since our visit, a one way ticket bought without any fancy manipulations at the train station is probably about US $75-80 now, second class. Having seen first class there is no reason to pay for the extra. The train called the Hungaria leaves Prague about 1200 and takes seven hours to Budapest. As it stops in Bratislava along the way, you could spend 5 days in each city and use one for Bratislava. Further, if you buy only the ticket to Bratislava from Prague and then buy another from Bratislava to Budapest you will probably save some money.
If you are going to need a taxi in Budapest, make sure you exchange your leftover crowns at the change office in the train station before leaving Prague so you have money when you arrive and don't have to go searching for the ATM. BTW, this train leaves from Holosevice station.
