| Budapest | Transporting a package from Budapest to Dubrovnik Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 01:35 AM UTC
I will be traveling from Budapest to Dubrovnik but have a 10 kg suitcase that I'd like to forward to Dubrovnik. After the shock of finding out that DHL charges over $350, a friend in transportation said they probably airfreight and try UPS. They were more reasonable at about $150 but I can't imagine businesses in Europe would pay that amount to move 10 kg of freight. Does anyone know the name of a trucking company that might be able to take my package or are the rates really that high? Thanks. Michael

The rates are unfortunately really so high. The reason of this is, Croatia together with Ukraine, Albania, Belarus, Bosnia, , Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, and Turkey, belongs to a zone of highest prize. Beside DHL, UPS and FedEx there are also cheaper companies, but they do not guarantee the time of the delivery. Greetings. Laszlo

Thanks, Lazslo. Would you happen to have the name of one of those companies? I'll be in Budapest on June 1 and the case is for a Bike Friday, which is a compact bicycle that fits in a suitcase. I hope to pick it up in Dubrovnik around July 1 so was also wondering where I might store it. I was thinking about a hotel in Dubrovnik that might hold it, or some other address. Thanks for the advise. Michael

I would recommend the MPL - Hungarian Post Logistics Business Unit, presumably this is the most reliable. You can try the fee calculator on the site.(Croatia = Horvatorszag)
