| Liverpool | Safe to park bike?? / Wallasey ferry Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 07:54 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm planning on visiting Liverpool on my way up to Scotland this weekend. I am travelling by motorbike. Is it safe to park up overnight?? It's only a 125 but no elaborate security on it. I'll be in New Brighton, Wallasey. One more question. Is there a ferry from Wallasey to Liverpool? If so where does this go from? Thanks, |

This might help. I know you can get the ferry Liverpool side just in front of the Liver buildings. I will make no comment about leaving your bike as I would not like to upset any Scousers out there, but with any motor vehicle in any city it could be taken. Where are you planning on staying ? I would try and get secured parking or your trip might be ruined. Joolz

I'd imagine the red side of Scouseland is upset enough tonight, so, be careful I had my car stolen in Liverpool a few years ago, the city has a bad reputation for such events.

If the ferry times dont suit you (the direct service only runs during the peak commuter times, outside of that crossing is part of a river cruise) you could always travel through the tunnel to get to Liverpool from Wallasey:

Dont think your allowed to use the ferry with a motorbike, Wallasey's pretty safe place (unless your stopping in Seacombe) but I wouldnt leave the bike out... that said id be no more worried about leaving it there than anywhere else in the UK. There isnt any secure car parks in Wallasey as far as I know just open pay and display places which only charge from 9-5 near the shopping precict in Liscard.
Its free to take a bike through the tunnel, so you may aswell go that way. Oh and by the way people of the Wirral are not scousers!

Stands corrected but would like to know who and what is a scouser in that case.

Scouser is somebody who lives in Liverpool, the Wirral is not part of Liverpool. Its accross the river from Liverpool, but the scousers dont wanna call us scousers and we dont wanna be called it. We all love each other but we aint the same.
Before the goverment introduced the whole Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Humberside, Greater London farce, we were Cheshire (as my post code still states) and Liverpool was Lancashire.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Yes people in Liverpool still have a sense of humour. I stayed Liverpool side up market, Premier Inn Albert Dock, due to lack of accomm available Wirral side. Went through the tunnel - old one, free for motorbikes :)
