| Katowice | Katowice Train Station. Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 06:07 PM UTC
Hi there,
Im going to Katowice very breifly in July, we're landing then pretty much getting the train directly to Novi Sad, Serbia (over night)... Our plane lands at 21:00, and the train leaves at 23:50. First question - Would we be able to easly get a taxi from the airport directly to the train station at that time? Secondly - I've heard a few negative things regarding the Katowice train station. Apparently it's over-run with homeless people, especially at night!!.. And ive read that they could get violent... i'd just like to know how bad it REALLY is?.. Would a group of 7 british tourists be safe enough on the train station at that sort of time? or should we SERIOUSLY consider a different option? Thanks for any information and advice. SorD. |

if the group of 7 british tourists will be sober, quiet and polite I am sure everything will be fine :-)
Keep in mind that police is there, and homeless people do not want to be thrown out of the station. In Warsow they have few designated banches where they are allowed to sit and they don't bother anybody. Whenever I travel through Poland at night I ask my american hubby to lower his voice and not to stare at people. I don't think you have to consider different options, you just have to behave like you are in "their home". Oh, and just from my own experience, there is much more homeless people in New York subway than polish train stations. Just here in New York.....they are always asleep.
