You can see some of his off the beaten path Rio tips on this site if you search on "rafaelthesecond". Also look for great recommendations on Trip Advisor by recent clients.
Book early. He's getting quite a following these days and is booked way ahead.

I would think it's a bit early to try and arrange things for a trip 10 months from now.

I hear from clients-who-became-friends-of-his that Rafael has gotten so popular, due both to his manner and knowledge, that one might actually have to book that far in advance for a popular time like Carnaval.

My husband and I recently spent a few days in Rio with Rafail Torres Lopes. You can view his blog at donrafaguestsinrio.blogspot.com
We had a wonderful time with him. You will need to make arrangements with him early if you're lucky enough to be his guest.
