hello, we are a group of 4...travelling from London by train. Can we cover Manchester in a day. The schedule is to arrive at Manchester around 9am and return to London same day after 6pm. Please let me know if we can do it or v need more days.

You can do it in a day easily (though why?), although it will be expensive if you plan to travel early. Saver return train fares usually begin after the rush-hour.

It all depends on what you want to see in Manchester. Maybe an idea of your intended plans for the day would help answer the question.
