| Munich | Reasonable priced hotel near Munich Airport? Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 05:46 AM UTC
Hi,
I several questions. We're looking for a reasonably priced hotel (150 euros max per night) near Munich Airport as we have an early flight the next morning. A hotel with a decent restaurant which serves very late meals would be a huge bonus. Also what would be the best way to get from Munich train station to this hotel? Taxi? Shuttle? We would arriving after 9.30pm. Thanks in advance. |

Hi!
If I were you I would eat in town and then go to the hotel. Your chances are much better there to get something to eat even though it's late. The S-Bahn towards the airport runs frequently in the evenings, so getting to the hotel would not be a problem. As the airport hotels are normally really expensive I'd look for a hotel near one of the S-Bahn lines towards the airport. I found a few hotels in Ismaning and Hallbergmoos on hrs.de, the best hotel search engine for Germany. You can find the S-Bahn-network here: http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/web4archiv/objects/down Hope this helps? Sabine

Generally you can stay also in the city centre, e.g. near Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) or Marienplatz. The first S-Bahn to the airport departs at 03:18 from Hauptbahnhof. That should be early enough. Travel time is 40 minutes.
But as long as you don't stay at the - really expensive - Kempinsky hotel at the airport you always will have a travel time of at least 15-20 minutes to the airport. In the city centre it's also no problem to find something to eat late in the evening. You can buy a mini group day ticket for public transport already when you arrive in Munich, as day tickets are valid till 6am next day (or do you need to be at the airport later than 6am?). You need the mini group (2-5 persons) day ticket covering the whole MVV network for EUR 18,00.
