| Los Angeles | Eco-friendly L.A.? Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 09:29 PM UTC
Hi, Everyone,
It's VT staffer, Courtney, and I'm hoping you can help me with something we're working on for a possible press project. I'm trying to come up with some ideas for eco-friendly travel in and around L.A. Hotels, attractions, museums, tours--anyplace or thing that either helps educate the public about the environment, or makes a special effort to help protect it. I've got a few ideas (mostly parks and some resorts), but it's not my area of expertise, so I'm hoping our very eco-aware membership can give me some ideas. As always, many, many thanks! C |

Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) is one of the most interesting places I know in LA, and they are right next to a weird and interesting Center for Jurassic Technology.
CLUI has some very interesting eco friendly projects. I also am a big fan of Materials and Applications which my friends run. They do all kinds of interesting stuff around the use of new materials in architecture and spaces and it's very pointedly eco friendly. http://www.emanate.org/

The Los Angeles State and County Arboretum in Arcadia (www.arboretum.org)and Descanso Gardens in La Canada (www.descanso.com) often have eco-friendly themed events, demonstrations, lectures and classes. For example, the theme of the 2008 Los Angeles Garden Show, to be held May 2-4, is "Abundent Gardens-A vision for Sustainability", about making "Green" choices.

What great ideas! I LOVE Descanso! Never knew about all the eco-events! They have great plant sales, too!
Keep those ideas comin'! Thanks, C
