Vienna car rental within Europe
Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 05:06 PM UTC
Does anybody know if it is possible to rent a car in Vienna and then travel to Brussels, Belgium, to leave the car in Brussels the next day? If so, any idea of prices?
Thanks!
Wendy

Hi Wendy, I don't have specific answers to your questions, but you could check out www.harefares.com/EuropeHotelsAndCars.aspx. It gives you a variety of car rental companies in Europe to choose from, so maybe at least one of them will have a return policy that is favorable to you. Good luck.

Of course it is, go to http://www.europcar.com and enter pick up Austria - Vienna, return Belgium- Brussels, and then ignore the registration box and click continue: for pick up on May 15 and return on May 16 the cheapest price available is €698.92 for a VW POLO 1.2, if booked and paid for online rather than on arrival in Vienna; then a series of prices, up to €921.12 for the same dates for a SKODA OCTAVIA 1.9, paid for only on arrival.

Yes, it is possible. You will have to pay extra drop-off fee. How much it costs depends on several factors. You can get a quote on the Web sites of the rental car companies - for example, http://www.hertz.com (make sure to check the "I'm returning this rental car to a different Hertz car rental location." check box).

How many people are there in your party?
If you would provide all the facts, a much precise answer would be possible for me.

As long as you are willing to pay a sometimes exorbitant one-way fees, everything is possible with the multi-national rental companies (Hertz, Avis, National etc). The drop-off fees can be up to 500 Euro or even more.

I know just every mile of this drive (although not non-stop).
Driving from Vienna to Brussels are almost 1200 km. So add 200 Euro alone for gasoline.

Calculate the total cost depending on how many people will be traveling.

Look at discount airlines or advance purchase tickets. Buy R/T and throw the return portion away.

driving Vienna to Brussles in 1 day is possible, BUT also a lot of stress and the whole day in that car just to rush over the highway.
Highway-fees in Austria - Czech republic - Belgium
gasoline a bit cheaper in Austria and Czech Rep. than in Germany
Cheapest gasoline on the way is Luxemburg !
