Munich Oktoberfest Tent Reservations
Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
Hello,

There are 4 of us that will be attending Oktoberfest on Sept 23rd & Sept 24th. Reservations at most beer tents are quickly filling up, and require 6-10 people (depends on the beer tent). Also, all evening reservations are full.

My questions are as follows:

1. Does anyone have room for 4 in an evening reservation?
2. Does anyone know how I can get a reservation for an evening?
3. What are the best tents to go to?

Hi there,

the very best tent is the "Schottenhamel". If you cannot get any reservation, be there early in the morning which means about 8am and you may have a chance to get in.

The second best tent is the "Löwenbräu".

Try to buy tickets via http://www.ticketpool.de/. They have tickets left but site is only available in German.

Good luck and "Ein Prosit, ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit" ("Cheers" in Bavaria)

Best wishes from Berlin,

Stine

Hi!

As you are visiting Oktoberfest during the week you won't really need a reservation. If you are there in the afternoon (or maybe even early evening) you can easily choose which tent you want to go to on a normal Tuesday. If you are lucky you can even hop from tent to tent because it'll be much less crowded than on weekends.

My favourite tent is the Hofbräu. It's where the tourists go so the party is very international and fun. I enjoyed it much more than the tents the locals like best (e.g. Himmel der Bayern, Schottenhamel). Also in Hofbräu there is an area without seating. If you are standing at a table you get to know the people around you very quickly. Especially when there's so much beer involved ;)

Hope this helps!
Sabine

Yes agree with Sabsi, standing area in the Hofbräu tent is fun and midweek should be no problem for a seat if you're there early enough. Always enjoy the Augustiner tent myself.

No tent will give you a reservation for only 4 people.

The tables in the reserved sections seat at least 10.

The early bird gets the worm (or in this case seats)

One more question:

Is it better to be in one of the boxes, or in the inner seats?

Hippodrome is where all the beauties and quite a lot of celebrities go. As this is not my cup of tea I have never been. A pit too posh for my taste.

Definitely the inner seats because you are in the middle of the action. From the boxes it must feel like you're just the spectator.
