| Riomaggiore | Need help with trains Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 01:40 PM UTC
Hello all:
We are traveling from Florence to the Cinque Terre and staying in Riomaggiore, then we are headed to Nice. Could someone please help me out with what train I should take from the Cinque Terre to Nice? |

I actually had a similar travel plan when I visited in Feb. Just a few tips, the train that runs between Florence and La Spezia (which is the town just before Riomaggiore) is a commuter train so it stops at Pisa, so if you haven't already its very easy to stop off in Pisa for a couple of hours, see the leaning tower, and then catch a train to La Spezia, from there you will find the commuter trains that run between the five villages of Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore is roughly a 8 minutes train ride from La Spezia. Finally I recommend taking the night train from La Spezia to Nice. There was one that left La Spezia at 21:30 and got to Genoa at about 1:00, there was a three hour layover, and then a train from Genoa left for Nice at 4:30 and arrived in Nice at 9:00. It was only 34 euro. Its kind of a pain, but if your on a tight schedule and a budget its worth the effort...just a thought!
