Hi!

My friend & I plan to go for 2D1N trip to Batam from Johore this weekend.

Wish to know if anyone can suggest me;

(1) Clean, safe budget hotel to stay in central town?
(2) Best place/town to stay i.e. nightlife, shopping centres, restaurants?
(3) Instead shopping, is there any interesting places to visit?
(4) How much to charter taxi for 1 day round trip?

1. There many budget hotel in the town (Nagoya), even stars hotel also are cheap there such as Goodway, Nagoya Plasa, Novotel, Harmoni, Panorama Regency, Hotel 89, Planet holiday, and the new one is i-hotel. These hotel are start from 3 stars hotel. But still many small hotels in the town, but sorry i can't help coz i dont know the names. But you can ask the taxi driver once you arrive :-)
2. These hotels also have their own entertaintment, but you can go around the city from hotel to hotel. If you like pub with band, bartender and DJ, i recommend you go to Harmony hotel, it has pub named NoName. Second choice is Tampico pub located in Novotel. Restaurant, dont worry Nagoya is the city centre, business disctric which offer you plenty of restaurants and many kind of food, start from local food, asian food, european food etc. Nagoya hill is a nice choice, go to 1st floor. Shopping : Nagoya hill, Megamal, BCS mall, DC Mall
3. Barelang bridge is the most place visited by tourist, and some beaches such as Marina city and Nongsa.
4. 1 day taxi is around IDR 200,000 and if you lucky you can make the deal even IDR 150,000 but the more you friendly to the taxi driver, the more you can get more information about Batam from him "if he speak english" ;-)
