| Belarus | Visiting Belarus Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 01:54 PM UTC
Hi
I'm visiting Belarus for a few days and wanted to speak/meet with local people and learn more about life there. I live in Dublin, Ireland and have lived & worked in many countries, Japan, Australia, Spain. Anyway apart from Minsk are there other cities you would recommend I see? I thought Bresh forest looks interesting. Also i'm hoping to get a quick tourist visa at Vilnius, does anyone know how fast this can be? Also if I stay 2 days in Minsk and then 2 days in another city, where do I register? I could just stay 3 days in total but I don't know if I still must register? Many thanks and if I can give any advise to anyone Ed Thanks Ed |

Hi,
I ve been living in Belorus for 5 years. Best to check about registration in some By ambassy. In Brest you can visit memorial place where a group of Soviet soldiers conctantly resisted to Germans in 1941. However it isnt close to Minsk, its on a way if you arrive to Byelorus from Poland. Minsk is very beautiful and clean place, and I think Pinsk is some older town. Enjoy your trip, Andrej

I think you have to start from http://www.belarus.lt/ku_e.php
Few week ago visa issue procedure changed and i dunno details. So, better contact embassy for it. Probably they may re-direct you to lithuanian tourist company, to buy tour. Read this http://forum.virtualtourist.com/discussion-404663- I write there about visa, registration and trap. I been minsk guide one week ago for two tourist from Switzerland. It was good, interested and useful experience. So, why not to repeat? Contact me amalker@tut.by Best wishes, Sergey.

hi there,
I am planning to visit Minsk on the 28th for one day then embark on the train going to Sofia.. yea.. and it takes 3 days. can you please advise how can I book the tickets in advance and do you have an idea of how much it would cost approximately? also, Im planning to apply for a transit visa from Sweden. Do you have an idea of what kind of documentation I need ? I checked out the embassy's website.. it says i need to show them the visa of my destination.. but i don't require a visa to travel to Ukraine and Bulgaria. Thanks in advance : )
