Sagada Commuting from Banaue to Sagada
Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 01:04 PM UTC
Hello people! Just want to ask. Are there other means of commuting from Banaue to Sagada other than jeepneys? I want to travel comfortably because I'm bringing my wife and 4 year old daughter with me. Are there aircon buses or shuttles bound for Sagada from Banaue? Or in case there are private vans available, how much do you think it would cost me?

If you're coming from Manila, check out Cable Tours as it goes directly to Bontoc which means you'll cut your jeepney ride by 2 hours. You only have to travel aboard a jeep from Bontoc to Sagada or approximately 1 hour.

Take not though that the road from Banaue to Sagada is rough and bumpy.

Hi asianbelle. Thanks for replying. Yes, I am coming from Manila. I think the best way going straight to Sagada is thru Baguio. There are aircon buses going to Sagada (Lizardo?). However, we intend to spend one day in Banaue before proceeding to Sagada. Most of the blogs I read says to get to Sagada from Banaue, we need to ride the jeepney. Are there aircon buses from Banaue to Sagada?

As far as I am aware, there are no air con buses plying Banaue to Sagada HOWEVER you can book a private van (aircon) and if I remember correctly, it will cost you a mini fortune. I know where to get it from Sagada but not from Banaue, so if you read my report on Sagada, there is this store opposite Masferre Inn that offers aircon vans to Bagiuo as well as Banaue.

What Asianbelle meant was that if you want to cut down the travelling you have the option to take the bus directly to Bontoc, but since you want to spend a day or night in Banaue, then you can also do so.

I cannot remember but I think the private van costs about 7000 Peso from Sagada to Banaue.

Same with Victor, the only aircon bus I know (I could be wrong) that passes by Banaue is Cable Tours. But as previously mentioned, it runs upto Bontoc only. About 2 summers ago, there were passenger vans at the bus terminal in Banaue that go directly to Sagada with an hour stopover at Viewpoint for breakfast and photo opps. They cater mostly to local/foreign tourists, maybe someone in the forum can comment on this.

As regards the route Manila-Baguio-Sagada, again I'm not sure if there are aircon Lizardo buses as the ones I saw were all non-aircon. The reasons behind this I think are: there is the mountain's natural, fresh, cool air; and most of the passengers are locals with their sacks & boxes of produce/trade.

There were aircon vans though from Baguio to some towns in Mt. Province.

Hi asianbelle, victorcklau, and allelli. Thanks for the information. I don't think P7000 for renting a private van is practical. I heard there is a Banaue-Sagada package tour (3D/2N inclusive of accomodation and transpo by private van) being offered for only P3000/head (minimum of 15 pax though). Do you think the price is reasonable?

Hi ichurya-a! How much is the cost of the van from Banaue to Sagada?

Where is the starting point of the trip? Also verify if the vehicle is a van or a coaster. If it will be minimum of 15pax, I don't think you'll be comfortable in a van (even if it's a grandia or urvan); probably a coaster will better.

You also mentioned bringing your wife and daughter, which will bring your cost to P6,000 to P9,000 (if your daughter will be charged the same rate). Might as well rent the van for P7000, at least you'll have it to yourselves.

hi asianbelle! the pickup point of the P3000 package is in manila. in the P3000 package, 3D/2N accomodation is already included. i am not yet sure with what kind of van will be used. however, i think it is not our option right now because it requires a minimum of 15 persons. if the P7000 van for hire is good for a round trip transportation from manila-banaue-sagada-manila (inclusive of gas), i think it would be reasonable. otherwise, i don't think it would be practical.

hi ichurya-a! i already replied to your email. your hotel seems nice.

Well php3,000/pax van in out sagada from manila with acommodation for 3D/2N I think that is expensive unless it include the tour around sagada and meal, we just back yesterday from sagada. we spend only Php13,000++ for 4pax all included with buffet dinner already in log cabin breakfast in masferre and some snack to yogurt house, that is also include 6 inportant site visit in sagada.

hi alleli! thanks for the info. the P3000/pax package includes the tour as well as some meals. anyways, i think we have to postpone our sagada trip unless i find company so that we could share the rent of a private van. thanks for your help.

it's best if you travel in a group of 6-8 if you hire a private van. We did that two years ago, we hired a van for P4000/day with driver that took us from Manila-Banaue-Sagada-Baguio-Manila. It's pricy compared to taking public transport, but that's what you pay for convenience. if you're willing to shell out a lil more, 'twas worth it and hassle free. :D
