A friend was remembering that yesterday was the anniversary of the Jewish uprising in Warsaw in 1943. We wondered if there were any special events or memorials taking place in Poland. If anyone has info or pics... could you please send to me? I have seen the tips and pics of the memorials posted under Ghetto tips.

There are always special events (couple of thousands of people attending) taking place in Warsaw. Here are few links from my favorite polish daily newspaper "Gazeta Wyborcza".
There is an official event where Polish government meets with Jewish community and invited guests (Szymon Peres is usually very important person during that event). There is also many concerts larger and more cameral all over the city. Lodz and Krakow usually have some small events as well at that time. Public schools are taking school trips to concentration camps as there was many smaller camps all over Poland and Germany.
If you are watching any european news (chanel 21 or 25 depends where you live in US) you will, for certain, find a news from those memorials. We used to watch french, german and polish news every day untill decided to save some money on cable and spend them rather on the flight tickets ;-)
