| Pattaya | "Sawasdee hotels" Pattaya: Which hotel do you recommend (see list) ? Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 12:04 AM UTC
Sawasdee Court
Sawasdee Mansion Sawasdee Pattaya Sawasdee Sea View Siam Sawasdee I understand that it's better to book the 1st night or two nights in advance and then look around. Which hotel would you recomment to stay near the walk-in aread for 700-800 baht for May period? I saw these recommendations: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/a1c44/161f12/3/?o=2 for The Beach Garden , Midtown and Siam city park I'm considering 1 or 2 nights in vc hotel and then move to "Midtown" or " Ice inn" Thank you in advance |

The Sawasdee chain have hotels around the Soi Bua Khao area of Pattaya - they are cheap but rather depressing in nature. I would suggest that you stay there and then look around for something less tawdry.
some Sawasdee hotels offer a considerable discount for those who turn up after 12:00 am, check at the reception.

Midtown Inn is my favorite near Walking street, really old but with 2 pools.
Siam City Park was closed for renovation on the end of last year, i used to stay before, a really lovely place but far from the city. I stay recently to the beach Garden it's a lovely place on a quiet area. You can check fotos and infos on my information site www.pattayaone.com

Thank you for your answer , The beach garden looks fine but its location seems a bit far from WS.
Would Koh Chang or Koh samed be a better alternative for better beach and maybe better discos ?

Please be careful if you eat at the Sawasdee chains, I ate at the one opposite the Intown Holiday Hotel and got really bad food poisioning after I had breakfast there once. I stayed at the Intown while I was there. It is clean and tidy but can get a little noisy sometimes due to the concrete hallways but nevertheless a nice place to stay.

You are welcome Toon, Midtown must be a new one or a change of name for the Intown. I hope that you have a wonderful stay.

There are several hotels just down a little further that have internet. I stayed at them and forund them ok. First check the Eastiny chain. They recently opened a few new hotels. The Sunshine hotel is very nice and very reasonable.
I find it makes no difference where you stay in relation to Walking Street. The Baht bus is only 10Bt and there is always one ready to pick you up. Just walk out to Beach road and raise your hand, A truck with seating in the back will pull up within seconds. Just get in the back and ring the bell when you want to get out. Their last stop is walking street. When you get out give 10 Bt to the driver. It is extremely easy. Since travel is so easy, I stay in North Pattaya more and more often. I like the East sea resort. It is beautiful, cheap and quiet. I have to walk 2 blocks to the intersection in front of the Dusit Thani to get the bus, but I don't mind. The quiet garden setting and the pools with wet bar are worth it. See my Pattaya page for more information about the hotels, food and Baht Busses.
