Would like to know the address where I can a cheap and good folk guitar in Cebu because I heard that Cebu is where they make very good guitars.

when I lived there, we used to buy guitars either at mactan island (near the bridge between mactan and cebu city) or the marketplace (sorry, forgot the name now).

Alegre Guitars is where I bought one for my sister when I was in Cebu. I dont know the exact address but its a popular place and offers a tour or some kind of lesson for people who wants to see how to make guitars. Just ask around. All I can remember it that its about 30 minutes from the airport.

Cross over the old bridge from Mandaue City to Lapu Lapu city.
As soon as you get off the bridge get out of your transport and walk left up the hill to the Gaisano Department store. Starting right at the corner near the bridge, there are many vendors to choose from on the way up the hill. Make sure you see them all before making your decision. How much you pay will depend on your negotiation skills. You can also have your guitar made to order eg you choose the colour, shape and depth with a neck to suit your hand size. You could also choose to go direct to a factory on Mactan Island. Just get a taxi to take you. Regards: Jim

You also need to be aware that because of differences in humidity etc., a cheap guitar may become unplayable when you get it home.

Hi,
Yes, you can buy cheap guitars here, but NOT in: a) Big malls b) Souvenir Shop in airports Try going downtown (Carbon Market) or around mactan Island. You can also find guitars around Basilica del Sto Nino.
