| Davao City | Please Advice Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 01:59 PM UTC
I'm flying back to philippines this may 3 and will be flying back to Davao on the 4th of May and will be arriving late in davao around 9pm and I have plans to have a good but quick tour around Davao city while im there in just 1 day on May 5.One of the place i wanna go to is Pearl farm and I wanted to do the day tour so I need to know how to go about doing this and the cost, where to make reservation and etc, also in this one day I wanted to visit the other tourist spot in davao if possible so any suggestion would be much appreciated. This is my first time in Davao so I have no clue where is the cheapest but clean place to stay and how to make my plan of touring davao possible with the little time I have. At the end of the afternoon I need to go to kidapawan so i am wondering how do i get there, the cost and also if you any of you can give me a timetable for wither buses or van to go from Davao to Kidapawan so I can maximize my day in Davao.
Cheers J |

Pearl farm day trip costs P1500/pax. It is a little time consuming as you need to go to the PF Marina at 7;30 to catch the morning boat for the resort (45 min boat ride/way). If you just want to see the facilities and do a little exploring you can go for the half-day tour and take the 1:30 pm boat back to the city and the rest of the day, (3:30p.m. onwards) you can go shopping. You will have to make a decision of whether you absolutely have to go to PF or just spend the day in the mainland. To do both will not be practical. Read member pages for things you can do in the mainland in a single day. :) Good luck.

monina is right, you have to choose between going to PF or the frequently visited tourist spot in davao, assuming you want to visit the Philippine eagle center, Malagos Garden, Eden Nature Park, Crocodile Farm, you have to consume at least half a day on it, for you to still have time going to kidapawan city. transportation going to kidapawan is not a problem for there are vans available until 6:00 pm. travel time by bus is 3 hours by van 2 hours.

As i remember it Carlito the Central Terminal is located a little outside of the city center so you have to figure in the time she has to travel to get to the terminal to catch the 6pm to Kidapawan. Davao traffic is bad during rush hour. :(

yes, that's right monins, you also have to consider the waiting time interval. for buses is much better fot they have a 20 to 30 minutes interval, but the travel time is much longer for they have to stop every station and there are 3 terminal stations before reaching kidapawan, namely digos city, bansalan, and makilala. while if you take the van, the travel time is much shorter because they will travel it directly, but god know's how much time will you wait until the last passenger for kidapawan will arrive.

| Davao City | Thanks for your great Advice Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 12:22 AM UTC
I have decided that I will do the inland trip such ask going to the crocodile farm, phil eagle and etc. So I have another question for this though I want to know which is the best way to go about visiting the tourist places with the little time I've got on my hand. Should I visit the farthest first and do the last one that is closest to the terminal. So maybe if you can help me with this as well please.

We might assume that you will be staying in the city center then.
Visits must be scheduled to give you the best experience! :) Here are some suggestions: In the morning you can: 1. visit the butterfly farm located at the Riverfront Corporate City, Diversion Road, Ma-a, Davao City. You must go there early (say, a little before 8am) so you can see the butterflies "hatching". Take a walk around the farm and see their high value crops (dragon fruits, figs, etc) 2. After visiting the BF, you can drive on to the Phil. Eagle Center at Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City (if you are lucky you can see the eagles being fed). 3. Drop by Malagos Gardens to see more animals and plants. 4. If you still haven't had enough of inland resorts, you can drop by Eden Nature Park where you can get your lunch. After lunch, you can: 1. Go back to the city and go shopping at Aldevinco. 2. Go to Blue Gre at Landco Building near F. Torres St, Davao City to have a taste of their durian coffee and durian cheesecake! I hope you can use some of these suggestions. Carlito can probably help you morw with regards to how to hire a vehicle to take you around the places I suggested. Good luck!

hiring a taxi going to this destination is not a problem as long as you know how to huggle, davao taxi drivers are very much willing to help a visitor like you. almost all of them know's this place and some can even suggest a better iterinary for you. by the way, as monina had posted the durian cofee and durian cheesecake at bluegre is a must place to go, bluegre has also a branch at the ground floor of SM mall along quimpo boulevard to where the van's en route to Kidapawan is located.
