| Perth | Nice hotel in Perth Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 12:10 AM UTC
We are going to be in Perth June 3 to June 7 (then 2 months travelling around the country), arriving by train from Sydney. We (husband & I, 68 & 67) are looking for a nice hotel in Perth or Freo. We don't have any special requirements, just want a nice place to come back to after touring around all day. We will have a car.

Try The Rydges in Perth or Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle, I would allways rather stay in Fremantle than Perth it has alot more on offer and is very relaxed.
Both the above hotels are fairly expensive, Fremantle has numerous B&Bs for a cheaper option.

We've stayed at the Seasons of Perth - http://www.seasonsofperth.com.au/ - 3 times and found it excellent. Very large rooms and plenty of amenities. Secure car parking in basement, but that can fill up as its a bit small. Suggest you try and negotiate a deal with them and include their reasonable buffet breakfast. Suggest you offer $A150/night.
Some choice of cafes in and around, internet cafe around corner and small supermarket around another corner. Walking distance to city centre shops.

Hi Pam
I like the Sebel in Perth if your budget will go that far. There is more space and the Kitchenette is useful. The group has another one in Perth called the Citigate but I have not stayed in that one. Check out: http://www.mirvachotels.com.au/ Your trip sounds great - have a nice time John

I enjoyed staying at the Holiday Inn on Hay street in Perth.
Lots of extras including an indoor pool and literally 2 mins walk from the main shopping malls. Ask for a room high up at the back and it will be quieter with a view over the city. The front is on a main street and can be noisy. More info on my pages. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/9a93e/1c8d7f/3/

Another option: somewhere between Perth and Freo.
We stayed in the Canning Bridge Auto Lodge, which offers a range of accommodations. We had a unit with a sitting/dining room, bedroom, ensuite and kitchen with all amenities. The lodge offers also a swimming pool and barbecue area. Canning Bridge is located in Applecross on Canning Highway: perfectly for visits with public transportation to both Perth (7 minutes) and Fremantle (15 minutes). It is surrounded by restaurants, take-away’s, supermarket, post office and other shops. See for more info: http://members.virtualtourist.com/vt/tfr/1/1c8d7f/3/1908dc/ happy travels Jaap

Hiya Pam. Perth Rydges is good. http://www.rydges.com/ROBE/28days.asp?hotelCode=&a
Another one that has kitchen facilites is Saville Park Suits - http://www.discoverwest.com.au/hotels/saville-park Colin's suggestion about the Rendevous is also a good one, a little way from Perth but right on the beach - http://www.rendezvoushotels.com/perth/?gclid=CNKp7 You will find all of these and many more on these sites...and probably at a cheaper rate - http://www.hotelclub.com.au/SearchResults.asp?id=58 http://www.discoverwest.com.au/citymap.html Hope this helps. Cheers, Ann :o)

We stayed at three different places in Perth, and the clear favourite was Miss Maud Swedish Hotel in the city centre. Not only the hotel was lovely. I still think of this incredible breakfast buffet. Thought of going back to Perth just for this LOL

Hey Sissi, when you come back to Perth, I'll have a dinner buffet there with you!! Yummy!! :o) A vt friend of ours appleseed81 stayed at Miss Mauds and highly recommends it. I usually recommend the Ibis because of the location and being cheap. But I do know that Miss Mauds is on par with the Ibis money wise, so I guess the next time hubby & I stay in Perth we'll have to check in so that I can give a review here on vt :o) Cheers, Ann.

Hi Ann, I used to recommend the Ibis but I've heard from people who've stayed there in the last year or so who have said it's cheap but rather dirty and not very nice.

Mmmm interesting Lesley. When we stayed there I found it very clean and with good service but the rooms are small. However the hotel is right in the heart of Perth & I will still recommend it for good cheap accommodation here. Miss Mauds on the other hand is pretty much in the same price catagory except it's at the other end of town. I'm looking forward to comparing the two.
However both you and I know that for nice, more expensive accommodation either the Rydges or Holiday Inn would be better :o)

Hey Ann, the dinner buffet is a great idea!
I hope they have those marinated fish bites on the dinner buffet as well... ;-)

Hey Sissi....come back to Perth and we'll do the dinner buffet :o) I love smorgasboards! Don't know about marinated fish but Miss Mauds have prawns, oysters & hilli mussels to die for!! We enjoyed dinner there with Maurie (oOOo) when he came to Perth a couple of years ago.
