Udon Thani Travel Forum

I`m traveling from Bangkok to Laung Prabang by plane from there down to Vientiane via Vang Vieng , back across border at Nong Khai.Plan to meet Thai lady from Udon Thani in LP,back across border together.What reception will we receive in Laos traveling as a couple,what problems are we likely to encounter at border crossing,what problems will lady face getting into Laos.

The only problems you will face are those related to visas/permissions to enter. Thai should have no problem entering Lao as there is free travel in ASEAN countries for ASEAN citizens. You will be treated seperatly when crossing borders. Make sure you have valid Lao visa each time you want to cross their border, and are covered for entering Thailand multiple times. In hotels etc you'll have no problem.

Thanks .Did read one thread of Thai girl(traveling with farang boyfriend)jumping out of car when approaching Lao police, hiding ,getting back in car when police were passed, must`ve thought she`d be mistaken for a Laotion girl,or she was a villan.Farang was mystified but didn`t question local custom.
Would you recomend any other places of interest along this route.Thanks again
