| Madrid | Car rental from Madrid Airport Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 08:43 PM UTC
I'm travelling to Malaga and Marbella from 28June till 12th July. I'll be landing in Madrid and I'm planning to rent a car from Madrid Barajas Airport terminal 4 to drive myself and the family to Malaga. Can someone please recommend a good car hire company? I need a 9 seater mini-van.
Thanks |

use www.autoeurope.com
we used them in July 2007 also from Barajas. Autoeurope is a consolidator and will give you the best price of all rental companies. We end up with brand new (11 km on odometer) Alfa Romeo from AVIS which was great surprise. I don't think there is a better way to rent a car in Spain. I did extensive research last year comparing local companies to the international and nothing was better than autoeurope.com.

Yes same with me, though the last time i rented (from Amsterdam the other day) renting with www.holidayautos.com was better. but all my rentals prior to that have been proved best with autoeurope - spain, italy and france. though you have to be careful about the 'conditions' with what is not covered - eg i had to buy a new tyre - europecar charged, because id hired though autoeurope, 160 euro and not recoverable.
(but similar small print to other companies that have clauses to get out of paying for tyres, windows, underside, topside and interior of car ?officially whats left!)

angiebabe, sorry to hear about your expenses.
Yes I have came across all that small print long time ago and it scared s... out of me. There is a way however to protect yourself from that extra expenses. We always book a car with AMEX credit card that charges us flat fee ( extra $24) and on case of something like that, it will cover additional expenses. Many credit cards offer extra insurance like that. Every car rental company have "small print" stuff, that make me believe it would be better to smash the whole car rather than....scratch the mirror ;-). www.autoeurope.com is like www.expedia.com. Will expedia help you get the cheapest flight ticket of them all? Yes, but you may have to bring on a board your own lunch, dinner, video player, and a blanket ;-) Small print is always very important.
