| Zakopane | One day in Zakopane. Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 05:50 PM UTC
Hi, two of us will be spending just one day in Zakopane at the beginning of May and as we will be travelling from Krakow in the morning and back there in the evening I was wondering if it would be possible to fit in both Morski Oko and also Dolina Checkolowska on the same day. We would intend using the horse drawn carriages where possible. Any information at all will be really appreciated.

Unfortunately i do not know what kind of the connection actually are there now...
However i think it will be hard but maybe not possible. If you decide to go just to one place - you can choose MorskieOko, take horse drawn carriages with highlander ;) and then take a 3 hours walk to Czarne lake (black lake) is on the left side from Morskie Oko, where you will have gorgeous view on the highest peak of POland - Rysy ! ( 2499 m above level sea). It will take you one hour to hike/ trekk up( ?) to the Czarne lake - but will be worth.

I don't think these two trips would be possible on one day and if I were you I would choose Lake Morskie Oko. You must first take a bus or a private mini-bus to Palenica Glade and then a horse-drawn cart to Wlosienica mountain glade. To reach Lake Morskie Oko you then have to walk the 1.5 km each way - no transport possible from there. The walk to Czarny Staw (Black Pond) may or may not be possible though. In early May there may still be snow lying there. But the view from the place is stunning and you can have a meal in the hut by the lake.
It's a trip not to be missed. Enjoy it!

It's possible but not so good idea as it's on oposite sides of Tatry.
Also no pleasure of crowd in first weekend of May (Bank Holidays here).
