| Venice | 2 night stay any tips Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 07:24 AM UTC
Hi I'll be going with my daughter to Venice in May and need somewhere nice - but relatively cheap to stay. I have trouble walking (MS) and need somewhere which is not too far from the sights. Has anybody any tips?

| Venice | Venice Hotel Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 07:40 AM UTC
I stayed in Venice a couple of months ago and can reccomend Hotel Commercio E Pellegrino. Really friendly staff who all spoke English (to some extent). The rooms are small but very clean and provided with most of the things you will need (no kettle). The bathroom is not the smallest I have ever tried to shower in and everything worked well. A reasonable choice of things for breakfast, though its a small hotel so don't expect too much. A broken light bulb and door lock were both replaced within minutes which is also useful. Only five tv stations available showing the usual Italian quiz shows and news shows and dubbed USA shows, but your in Venice so don't stay in watching TV. Best thing about this hotel is its fantastic location. 50m from San Zacaria waterbus stop, 100m from the Doge's palace in St Mark's Square. Its a small hotel and has a lift to all floors.
Have a look at the VT reviews for hotels there, I have found them to be quite accurate.

Stay at the Pensione La Calcina, very well located, possibly one of the best hotels in that price range in Venice (€100-€150). Hard to beat!

Hi! I stayed at Locanda Nova in December- it is about 5 mins walk (on the flat, with no bridges to cross) from vaporetto stop Ca'd'Ora - a reasonable priced friendly town house (originally a palace), with breakfast served in your room. All rooms are up stairs, but there is a stennah stair lift for anyone finding difficulty with climbing stairs. Please check my Venice Hotels and accommodations tips for more info.
I usually use Venere.com to help me find accommodation -lots of upto date info and ratings from travellers who've visited these hotels etc. Please feel free to contact me for any more info. Best Wishes, Sue x

We stayed at Casa Cosmo last October. It is located literally in between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's-both only a few minutes walking distance. The owner was very nice and came and met us at the vaporetti stop we arrived at from the train station and than walked us to the B&B. This was great because Venice can be quite complicated when it comes to maps. The only thing is there are stairs to some of the rooms so I would check with them before you book.
