| Concelho de Macau | Macau and Zhuhai Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 07:08 AM UTC
Hi,
I would like to go on a one day trip to Macau. A visit to venetian casino and some places of interest. Would like to go over to zhuhai for shopping. May i know do i have enough time for the intended journey? And oso, do i need to buy the turbo jet ferry ticket in advance first? Is it advisable to book a hotel? if so, any recommendation for a budget stay? Thanks! |

HI!
You don't need to book a ticket in advance. Turbojet runs 24 hours and has a service like every hour. You are welcome to take a look at my VT Macau page and see if the tips are any useful.

The Venetian has a free shuttle that runs to the border gate with Zhu-Hai. go to the west entrance of the Venetian to catch it.
Where do you need to go with the Turbojet because they have mulitiple destinations. If it's Hong Kong then as above, no problems. the Venetian also offers a free shuttle to the Macau Ferry Terminal

Sorry, I just realized that you've only got one day for your trip, in which case, it's not worth going to Zhu Hai unless you've got time enough until late in the evening. There are more than 10,000 travelers/Chinese crossing at the border gate per day and you'll easily spend an hour or so just crossing (especially if your not a Macau or Chinese citizen and am a 'foreigner'/farang). Plus, if you don't have a Chinese visa in advance, this will take even MORE time.
Instead, I would suggest shopping in the Leal Senado Plaza or one of the other commercial streets closer to the border/gate. These areas have a lot of small discount shops. The Venetian only has high-end designer places except for MacDonalds (which the Chinese from across the border flock to). There's also a couple outlet places called 21 Sports that have discounted clothes from Giordano/Hang Ten etc.
