| Amsterdam | One Evening in Amsterdam Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 07:24 PM UTC
I am in Amsterdam for one day in May this year. I arrive at 9:00 by the morning train from Antwerp. I have to park my luggage in some budget hotel (Euro 60 kinds)and go to Putten for work. I return from work at say 6:00pm local time.
1) What would be the best way to spend the evening? I mean the 'Must See' / Must do in Amsterdam. 2) What would be the most convenient area where I should stay. Regards |

Namaste,
Where do you have to go for work, which Putten? It may be quite far from Amsterdam. It depends a bit on what you want to do in the evening in Amsterdam...Also in the evenings you can do a trip by canal boat. If you are into it, you could stroll around the red light district. What kind of evening do you expect? Amsterdam is relatively small, but if you can stay in the center it's best of course. Cheers Dennis

Well yeah... Putten near Eindhoven is not really a place. That would be about 100 minutes by train and then a bus to what looks like an industrial area (Putten).
Most probably it's Putten in Gelderland, which is only 60 minutes by train from Amsterdam with a changeover in Amersfoort. Advice: do not rent a car because you'll be stuck in traffic and won't have any evening left to spend in Amsterdam! You could go for an evening canal cruise. They leave from in front of the central train station.

Nice pubs and nightlife on Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein.
Have a look down the Amsterdam Forum, there are quite a few recommendations. Or in the Accommodation tips here on VT. Kennymac recommend Hotel Armada in one of the postings. Or try www.hotels.nl that gives you addresses and maps where the hotels are.

OK, Putten in Gelderland it is then. That clears it up, thanks.

To get to Putten, take the train to Amersfoort and from there to Putten.
